Lee Sun Gyun , born in 1975 is a South Korean actor.
Lee studied acting and graduated from the Korea National University of Arts. In 2001, he debuted in the musical The Rocky Horror Show.
Relegated to supporting roles for many years, he finally achieved his breakthrough in 2007, with the romantic drama The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince and the critically-acclaimed medical drama White Tower, both ratings hits.
The diversity of Lee's career choices are apparent in his recent projects: TV drama Triple (which will reunite him for the third time with Lee Yoon-jung who directed Coffee Prince and Taereung National Village); a Jeonju Digital Project short by arthouse director Hong Sang-soo; and Paju, the long-awaited follow-up to director Park Chan-ok's Jealousy is My Middle Name.
In 2010 he won the Best Actor award at the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival held in Spain. Film distributor Myung Film quoted the judging committee as handing Lee high points for his role in Paju, portraying the anguish he felt for loving his wife's younger sister. This is the first acclaim that Lee has received at a film festival since his debut.
Lee was appointed as ambassador for the Health Insurance Review Agency in 2007, and won an award from the Korean Avertisers' Association in 2008.
Lee married his longtime girlfriend, actress Jeon Hye-jin (I'm Sorry, I Love You, Romance Hunter), on May 23, 2009. They welcomed their first child, a son, on November 25, 2009.
